This beautiful large pearl shell pendant or Guwan (plain, uncarved shell ornament) was part of a collection that was put together over several decades and was the largest of it's kind held in private hands.

Shells like this one were worn either around the waist or as pectorals and used in rain making ceremonies. It is large and has a length of human hair attached and the shell measures 19cm x 14cm.
