Safety bicycle ca.1895
This Safety is of unknown make but in quite presentable condition. She was found with two stablemates hanging from the ceiling in a traditional Belgian pub in the city of Ghent. She comes with radially spoked wheels with wooden running surface; the wheel rims are of the Michelin-type and suitable tyres were apparently unobtainable. Front wheel is ca 28 inch, rear wheel ca 26 inch. She is fitted with a spoon brake on the front wheel and a candle-type of headlamp. Interesting detail is the toothed adjustment system for the steering head bearings.
