BMW 1951 R25 245 cc OHV single frame & engine # 234892
BMW’s first postwar model is a 247 cc single, the R24, brought out in 1948. In 1950 an improved model is presented, the R25. The BMW development engineers have incorporated many improvements in this new model; the most important being rear suspension, a refined engine and a welded tubular frame with sidecar mounts. Among the other refinements are a centrally sprung saddle, adjustable footrests, more graceful front mudguard, aluminium front brake plate, two-piece rear mudguards to facilitate tyre repairs and wider tyres: the R24 has size 3.00 x 19, the R25 3.25 x 19. Engine dimensions are 68x 68 mm: from 1925 till 1967 all 250 cc class BMWs have these dimensions. The power output is the same as that of the R24, 12 hp @ 5600 rpm. The bike weighs some 135 kg and can reach a top speed of almost 100 km/h.
Our R25 was first registered on June 1, 1951 and is an older restoration. She comes with headlamp protector, rear view mirror, luggage rack and Pagusa pillion seat. She is fully functional, but has been part of a static BMW collection for many years, a service is therefore advisable.
