Interesting handbook / pocket guide for the Dutch UN troops that had to serve in Yugoslavia during the Bosnian Civil Wa. The handbook describes in details with beautiful color plates the uniforms, insignia, boobtytraps, uniforms, insignia, mines, weapons etc of both forces. Hardly seen for sale!
The Bosnian Civil War (April 6, 1992 – December 14, 1995) is one of the wars in Yugoslavia that broke out as a result of the breakup of the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia. The war started just after the majority of the inhabitants of Bosnia and Herzegovina voted for independence in the referendums held on February 29 and March 1, 1992. Just before that, Slovenia and Croatia had already declared their independence. The Serbs, especially Bosnian Serbs, did not accept the result. Many of them boycotted the referendum, which was seen as legitimate by the EU, UN and US. With the help of Serbia and remnants of the JNA (Yugoslav People's Army), the occupation of approximately 70% of the territory within Bosnia and Herzegovina was started. This was accompanied by heinous crimes against humanity, including killings and ethnic cleansing. Many of these acts were later convicted at the war tribunal in The Hague. For example, in 2007 a number of war criminals, mainly Bosnian Serbs, were convicted of genocide that was carried out on the Bosniaks during the war.
