Exceedingly difficult to find - an original Heart Shield Bible! This nice example is named to Frank J Johnston, son of Addie Johnston, who was a member stationed at APO 639 (unit 8th Airforce, the last two unit letters I do not know the meaning of), with rank of Master? sergeant. His service number is neatly written in the bible as well, and that it was a Christmas gift to him in 1943.This bible definitely needs much more research.
This bible is nicely worn - it was definitely used . The metal plates were to prevent a bullet from reaching the soldier’s heart (which they did on several occasions. surface of the bible has a great patina and has the text: ''To my loved one';A really nice as is found piece.
