Surrey Machinists’ Co. 52 “ Ordinary bicycle, circa 1885 This Ordinary has a 52 inch driving wheel with direct spokes to a hollow rim. The replaced 15 inch tail wheel is of pram-like construction. The oval backbone and forks are hollow. The handlebars are cow-horn type with T-handles. One pedal and the brake are missing and saddle, step and pedal are replacements. The machine has been repainted bright red.

Vélocipède circa 1870 This bicycle has green-painted wheels, 36-inch driving and 30-inch rear. The iron frame is painted black with conventional brake mechanism intact. The brake is operated by twisting. The bicycle is fitted with 26-inch handlebars with later wooden grips, hock rests, a good and original seat pan, 8-inch cranks and triangular pedals. The wheels are sound, certainly useable, and the iron tyring is tight and probably original.
